Holiday Party 2009

The annual GPOESC holiday party on Saturday, December, 5, was one of the best-attended club events in years. Over 35 people gathered at the home of Matt Alston in rural St. Paul, Oregon, to celebrate the season and all things sheepdog. The Clark County Kennel Club Show that same weekend allowed guests to come from the Seattle area and from as far away as Colorado.

The expansive dinner, prepared by Matt with the help of family and board members, started with appetizers, including fruit kabobs and baked quiches; continued with a main course of ham, Cornish game hens and an abundance of side dishes; and concluded with several desserts and homemade eggnog. Matt’s towering Christmas tree and formal glassware and china added elegance to the festivities.

At a brief general and board meeting, club president Jeff Menzel reflected on the past year and the many successes the club has enjoyed with the help of a terrific board and several active GPOESC members. The club continues to grow not only in memberships but also in the diversity of people who step forward to use their talents to enhance the overall experience of our OES club and community.

Of course, no holiday party would be complete without the annual gift exchange. It took a while to unveil the many wonderful gifts. And everyone who attended received a hand-painted OES Christmas ornament from member/artist Judy Keller and a gift bag of treasures from Lita Long, so no one left this party empty-handed!
